Psychedelics as a Healing Modality
Psychedelics and parenting. The two experiences seem to sit at opposite poles. Certainly combining them could be very hazardous. But consider this: psychedelic healing invariably involves various forms of self-parenting, while parenting throws the novice into a weird and unfamiliar world.
In this workshop I’d like to cast a psychedelic light on my experience of becoming a new father, and a parental light on my psychedelic experiences. I’ll also be drawing on philosophy and psychoanalysis to explore the infamous ‘crisis of masculinity’. Arguably this crisis helps explain the fact that ordinary experience for all of us is now becoming increasingly ‘psychedelic’.
Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their own experiences of childhood, and, where relevant, of psychedelics and parenting.
